Bois De Vivre Born 2020

They say that a phoenix rises from the ashes, well for us this is most definitely true. Born in October 2020 during the Covid lockdown Bois de Vivre is a French “Jeux de Mots” or play on words. The French expression Joie de Vivre means to live life to the full and embrace fully living. “Bois” being the French word for wood, our name reflects our love for wood and the joy we get when we make things for others pleasure and use. The literal meaning is living wood and we love living and working with wood. It is such a great medium and in good hands becomes beautiful pieces of art or useful objects. It all started with the purchase of our small lathe pictured here in our workshop in Carlisle for something to do whilst we were all locked down with Covid 19 and here we are now.

All of our pieces are handmade bespoke items, no two pieces are the same and are made by one person in a small workshop in Carlisle, so by purchasing one of our pieces you rest assured you will never see one the same anywhere else and you will have supported a very local small business.

 

Every item we make is from hardwood offcuts destined for the scrapheap. If we post items we always use recycled, compostable packaging. We try to tread as lightly on the planet as we possibly can, so you can be sure by purchasing one of these items, you do so from a company that cares about the environment it operates within and makes use of things which otherwise would have been disposed of.
